Lahore: The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP), during its 19th meeting for FY2019-20 held on Tuesday, approved three uplift schemes for Lahore, Faisalabad and Dera Ghazi (DG) Khan – a news source reported. As per officials, these multi-sectoral projects will be completed at an estimated cost of PKR 23,324.67 million.

Planning and Development (P&D) Board Chairman Habib-ur-Rehman Gilani presided over the meeting. Provincial secretaries, including the secretary planning, as well as senior representatives of relevant departments were all present at the occasion.

The first project pertained to the construction and rehabilitation of streets, roads and public parks in Dera Ghazi Khan – expected to be completed at a cost of PKR 559.988 million. Additionally, the construction of the eastern waste water treatment plant with a capacity of 44 MGD was approved for the city of Faisalabad at a cost of PKR 19071.222 million. The third scheme was approved for the enhancement of tourism in Lahore. Similarly, several heritage and urban regeneration projects in the Lahore Fort as well as in its buffer zones were allotted PKR 3693.460 million.
