Peshawar: The Provincial Development Working Party has approved 21 projects worth PKR 5.59 billion for the areas that previously fell under Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).

According to details, the meeting took place after six months. This marked the resumption of development activities in erstwhile FATA. The meeting was chaired by Additional Chief Secretary Dr Shahzad Khan Bangash. The officials of finance and planning and development departments of the merged areas also attended the meeting.
The projects include the reconstruction of education and health facilities, construction of irrigation channels, solarisation of tube wells and water sources, drinking water supply schemes, link roads, integrated development to discourage poppy cultivation in the far off areas, deradicalisation and feasibility and design of judicial complexes in all districts.

The approved projects are being funded by USAID, International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL-P), World Food Programme (WFP), Asian Development Bank (ADB), and from the FATA Annual Development Programme.
