Rawalpindi: The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) on Tuesday (October 26) approved PKR 24 billion Project Concept-1 (PC-1) of the Rawalpindi Ring Road project, news sources reported.

The 38.3-kilometre-long triple-lane dual carriageway project will start at National Highway 5 (N5), Grand Trunk Road, Banth to Thalian Interchange. In addition to this, it was reported that five interchanges will be developed along the entire circle of the project at Chakbeli Road, Adiala Road and Chakri Road. Talking to the media personnel, Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Syed Gulzar Hussain Shah said that the work on the project is taking place at a rapid pace the release of PKR 24 billion would further increase the pace.

Recently, the Punjab Planning and Development Board (PPDB) has allowed the land acquisition for the project. Under the revised PC-1, PKR 6.1 billion will be spent on land acquisition. Previously, the project was halted due to the allegations of the misappropriation of allocated funds and the land acquisition process.
