Karachi: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Sindh on Saturday issued a list of precautions for city residents to ensure their safety in the event of any instances of urban flooding, according to a news publication.

What are the PDMA precautions in case of heavy rains?
Following are the PDMA precautions in case of heavy rains:
- People residing in adobe residential units should immediately proceed to relocate to safe havens
- In case of heavy rains, keep a safe distance from electricity poles and practice extreme caution when dealing with electrical appliances
- Beware when walking or driving in flooded areas
- In the case of heavy downpour and/or hurricanes, keep your distance from signboards, electricity poles and trees
- Stock up on essential commodities like drinkable water, medicines, torches, oils and other amenities to prepare yourself for any emergency scenarios
- Do not wander close to ‘under-construction’ buildings and walls
- Avoid eating rainwater saturated food – as it can be harmful for your body

Additionally, the authorities have also issued a list of contact numbers for the public in case of any emergency.
