Lahore: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has rehabilitated 44 water supply schemes in Swat and Buner districts, a news source reported. According to PDMA officials, these schemes will benefit around 28,000 families in the remote areas of both districts.

The PDMA had initiated the rehabilitation work on the water projects following the disruption of water supply channels in the districts. Due to the disruption, people had to walk many kilometres in order to obtain water for their daily use.
Among the water schemes rehabilitated, 14 projects belonged to Buner while 30 schemes were in Swat. These projects also had the sponsorship of the international donor USAID. After facilitating the project’s completion, USAID had handed them over to the relevant departments.
Following the rehabilitation of the water supply projects, citizens of the two regions extended their appreciation to the PDMA. They lauded the authority for completion the installation of water pumps and construction of water tanks – helping them to access clean drinking water.

Meanwhile, work in underway on more water schemes in both districts. These include three projects in Swat and 10 in Buner.
