Peshawar: The Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) wants to get First Information Reports (FIRs) registered against 71 illegal housing schemes in the city, a news source reported. An official revealed there were 104 housing schemes under development in Peshawar. He added that only five of these were legal.

The official said that the authorities concerned had issued notices to 97 societies. Meanwhile, he added, the PDA had filed FIRs against 71 schemes.
PDA Assistant Director for Private Housing Societies Daud Shah said that they would register FIRs against societies failing to reply to notices and warnings. He added that 50% of the housing schemes had failed to fulfil the conditions of the No-Objection Certificate (NOC), while many others were constructed in violation of building regulations.
Last month, the district administration had imposed a ban on private schemes that were established in the city without prior approval from the authorities concerned.
