Peshawar: Provincial Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of Local Government, Elections and Rural Development Shahram Khan Tarakai has instructed the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) to form a simple and clear mechanism in three months for the issuance of NOCs to housing schemes, reported a news source. He shared this information while addressing a seminar held on Corrupt Practices and Cheating Public at Large (Cooperative Housing Schemes).

The seminar was arranged by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in collaboration with PFA. Sharing further details on how he plans the NOC issuance mechanism to be made easier, Tarakai said all related departments will be brought on the same page, so that their respective responsibilities are not compromised. This will also enable these departments to achieve the set targets within the stipulated timeframe.

Briefing the attendees on the forensic audit carried out in the provinces, NAB officers said 295 illegal housing societies exist in the province and these should be regularised. To encourage private sector from investing in similar projects, Tarakai showed interest in providing related facilities to them. He also said that related laws about regularisation of the real estate sectors do exist; they just need to be implemented.

Tarakai also stressed on the need for formation of site development rules and said that the local government should introduce reforms for new rules in collaboration with real estate developers and architects. He also indicated that in order to help housing projects maintain a certain standards, NOCs will be issued according to the new rules.
