Peshawar: The Peshawar Development Authority (PDA), through a follow-up notification, has withdrawn a notice issued earlier on December 6 to Bahria Town Peshawar directing its management to refrain from advertising its new project intended for development in the city, according to a publication shared by Bahria Town CEO Malik Riaz Hussain via his official Twitter account today (December 12).

This new notice had reportedly been issued by PDA Building Control Director Muhammad Farooq Hayat on December 11 – having come bearing the senior official’s stamp. The previous PDA-issued notice shared on December 6, in contrast, had come with the signature and stamp of PDA Private Housing Schemes (PHS) Assistant Director Daud Shah.

The latest notice-text reads:
‘In pursuance of the Director General PDA’s orders for the withdrawal of the subject notice, issued to Bahria Town Peshawar in context of Advertisement of their Scheme before accomplishing formalities of approval as per KP Local Government Site Development Schemes Rules. Therefore, the above notice is hereby stands withdrawn’.
The notice issued earlier by the PDA had been addressed to the Bahria Town Office Manager Incharge, stating that the authority had come across several social media advertisements indicating the nearing launch of Bahria Town Peshawar; without the developer having made any official notification of the project’s exact, intended site location (a PDA requirement).

It further mentioned that as per Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Local Government Site Development Scheme Rules 2005 and PDA Act 2017, any project advertisement, site developmental work, property sale/purchase, and plot allotment pursuits conducted prior to the approval of the society’s layout-plan and NOC issuance ‘by the competent authority’ were entirely illegal.

At its conclusion, the notice had gone on to direct the addressee to cease all instances of project marketing and sales/purchases/allotments of plots under the PDA’s territorial jurisdiction until an approval to this effect had been processed – warning of strict legal action in the event of non-compliance.
