Islamabad: The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) on Monday shared construction updates on the Gwadar International Airport and other projects being developed in the country, a news source reported. According to details revealed, the authority is currently implementing nine projects and has seven more in the pipeline for making improvements to aviation services in the country.

Sources revealed that among the ongoing projects, PCAA was executing the construction of the new green field Gwadar International Airport. It is also working on the provision of night-landing facility at the airport. Meanwhile, the upcoming projects include expansion of Quetta, Lahore, and Faisalabad airports, along with the following:
- Land acquisition for Mansehra Airport in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
- Establishment of Air Traffic Management System at Islamabad Airport
- New radar at Islamabad Airport
- Replacement of passenger boarding bridges & upgrading other facilities at Karachi Airport

For the financial year 2020-21, the federal government has provided funds worth over PKR 1,300 million for executing 15 aviation sector projects under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2020-21.
