Islamabad: The National Highways Authority (NHA) Executive Board on Monday (August 15) sent the third revised Project Concept-1 (PC-1) of the Northern Bypass to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for final approval, according to news sources. The PKR 28.779 billion project will be implemented up to June 30, 2024.

Reportedly, the new proposed PC-1 has been sent with three amendments that include provisions to:
- Resolve all land issues with the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government
- Rationalization of the cost of escalation
- Rationalization of design and supervision charges
In addition, the NHA Executive Board also approved the following road development projects:
- Allocation of funds of PKR 429.649 million for flood damage rehabilitation on the Alpuri-Besham section of N-90.
- Extension of time for civil works contracts of LOT -1, LOT-2, LOT-3 & LOT-4 from January 1, 2016, to March 30, 2018. The Board directed that the issue of Variation Order No. 02 be taken up by the Member concerned as per relevant Rules/NHA Code, as the same does not fall under the purview of NHA’s board.
- Allocation of PKR 1.152 billion for the construction of a new bridge on the Hub River on N-25
- Allocation of Funds PKR 575 million from Global Head of Bridges/Culverts already approved AMP 2021-22.
- PKR 577 million for the procurement of work through direct contracting with State Owned Entities (SOEs) as per PPRA Rule 42(f), owing to the emergent nature of the project.
