Rawalpindi: The Punjab government on Sunday provided its approval to the PC-1 for the construction of the Rawalpindi Ring Road project, a news source reported. The provincial executive approved the PC-1 for the 51-km-long route connecting Radio Pakistan Building on GT Road with the CPEC Route of the project under phase 1 at a cost of PKR 1,300 million.

According to details, the Punjab government would provide funds for land acquisition, build-up property, and transfer of services. Meanwhile, the authorities concerned would complete the Rawalpindi Ring Road project on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode.

The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) would play the role of the project’s executing agency. On the other hand, the Project Management Unit (PMU) established for the construction would work under the supervision of Project Director and Rawalpindi Commissioner Captain (retired) Muhammad Mahmood. Sources revealed that the project would collectively feature nine interchanges as well as separate tracks from small and heavy vehicles.
