Islamabad: The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) has extended the deadline for the ‘self enumeration drive’ for Pakistan’s first digital census till March 10, an advertisement in a leading newspaper reads.

The deadline was extended at the request of the federating units and provinces for accessible data collection. As per the advertisement, the self-enumeration drive got a massive response from citizens and the government has decided to extend the last date to enable more people to participate in the exercise.
The government has asked the citizens to be mindful of the following measures to make the 7th digital census a success and prevent fraud:
- Verify the identity of the enumerator before giving household details to the persons who come for the census, in this regard, the government has published a list of all the enumerators and their supervisors on https://www.pbs.gov.pk/content/list-enumerators-and-supervisors
- Enumerators will not ask for details about bank accounts but will only ask questions about the following only
- Name
- Age
- Education
- Profession
- Migration status
- Basic amenities in the home
- Language
- Religion
- PBS has released video tutorials on YouTube and its official website for basic information and training
- Citizens will only receive calls from 051-9225203 for data-related problems

It is important to note that the digital census will officially start on March 1 and will continue till April 4. For the first time, the census will be conducted using digital devices, without requiring Computerised National Identity Cards (CNIC) or other citizenship proof.
