Islamabad: The Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with UK-based charity Penny Appeal — with both groups having decided to become partners for the provision of social protection services, a news source reported. As per the publication, the signing ceremony took place at the PBM’s head office in Islamabad.

PBM Managing Director Aon Abbas Buppi lauded the initiatives taken by Penny Appeal throughout Asia and Africa, and also mentioned the services rendered by PBM in Pakistan. He stated that his organisation was committed to the Ehsaas Programme, and was involved in delivering various services to disenfranchised people, including healthcare, rehabilitation, education, and social security.

Acting Country Director of Penny Appeal Muhammad Ishaq Israr revealed that the UK based firm wanted to collaborate with the PBM because it recognised the credibility of the initiatives taken by the social welfare organization.

Reportedly, the two groups are expected to jointly provide shelter to the deserving during the month of Ramazan, and supply ‘fitrana’ along with ration bags to more than 500 individuals.
