Lahore: Caretaker Minister of Industries, Commerce and Energy S M Tanveer has directed the Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) to provide all facilities to the investors, according to a news published on February 1.

A meeting of PBIT was held recently, which was presided over by the caretaker minister. During the meeting, the minister decided to revive the Punjab Chamber of Commerce Coordination Committee. He added that industrialists, government officers, and representatives of chambers will be part of the committee. The said committee will take measures to address the problems faced by the industry in the province.

Moreover, the caretaker minister mentioned that PBIT should set targets and make sure all necessary facilities are provided to the investors in a bid to move forward. He went on to say that the new investment bill will be brought through concrete measures and the courses will be designed as per the local industry. PBIT Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jalal Hasan briefed the meeting about the performance of the board and its future plans. He added that 13 Special Economic Zones (SEZs) were approved in the province, out of which 10 SEZs have been established while six more are in pipeline.
