Islamabad: Pakistan Banks’ Association (PBA) launched ‘Mera Pakistan Mera Ghar – Helpline’, a joint call centre of banks to facilitate the borrowers of low-cost housing finance facility extended by State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), according to news published on Thursday (October 7).

According to the details shared, the inauguration ceremony was held at Ufone Call Centre in Islamabad. The event was attended by Naya Pakistan Housing & Development Authority (NAPHDA) Lt. Gen Anwar Ali Hyder, PBA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tawfiq Hussain, SBP Governor Dr Reza Baqir, Chairman PBA & President HBL Muhammad Aurangzeb, and presidents of the participant commercial banks.
As per the details shared, the main purpose of the helpline is to offer a one-stop solution for explaining and guiding borrowers regarding policies, documentation, and procedures and providing information on low-cost housing loan facilities. It was disclosed that depending on the preference and location of the borrower, the agents will forward the calls to call centre banks as leads. Also, the centre will be used for addressing and recording complaints of borrowers.
SBP Governor Baqir, speaking at the occasion, revealed that SBP has relaxed the terms and increased loan amounts under Government Markup Subsidy Scheme in order to encourage affordable housing across the country.

Moreover, the helpline is an excellent initiative that will facilitate borrowers across the country by resolving their queries and enabling them to avail facility conveniently and quickly. PBA Chairman Muhammad Aurangzeb added that this initiative would have not been possible without the collaborative efforts of Ufone and all members of banks, which includes Meezan Bank, HBL, and Faysal Bank.
