Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar on Monday gave his approval to a proposal to re-title patwaris as ‘Village Officers’ by promoting them to grade-14, a news source reported. As per the publication, the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) will induct the said officials to their new posts and provide them six months of compulsory training as preparation for their revised roles. Previously, the government had announced changing the title to Revenue Assistants.

Additionally, the meeting reviewed a proposal to change the post of Land Record Officer to Naib-Tehsildar, and Assistant Director Land Record to Tehsildar. The members of the meeting also discussed the plan to give grade-11 to Patwaris, and grade-14 to Gardawar during their service period. The structure for the promotion of the Punjab Land Record Authority’s staff was formulated as well.

The CM directed the concerned authorities to take immediate steps to set up 115 Arazi Centres in the remote areas of Punjab by December. He added that bank counters would also be set-up simultaneously with these centres, in order to make payments more convenient for the citizens.
