Islamabad: The Supreme Court on Monday sought a compliance report on its orders wherein it had directed the authorities concerned to replace the patwari system with a computerised mechanism across the country, a news source reported.

A three-judge bench of the apex court, headed by Justice Umar Ata Bandial, was hearing a review petition on its decision to replace the patwari system. It is expected to look into the admissibility of the review petition during the next hearing.
Earlier, the Punjab government had announced its decision to the patwari system at the revenue circle level. To this effect, the patwaris are expected to issue fard-e-malkiat in pursuance of the previous practice, instead of recording the ownership details in the new computerised system.

However, they will also be trained to operate the computerised land record system by the Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA) trainers. The deputy commissioners concerned will designate the staff trained by the PLRA representatives.
