Lahore: Traders and businessmen of Anarkali Bazaar have demanded Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar to construct parking plaza for the market, reported a news source. The long-standing demand was once again formally put forth by Lahore Traders Rights Forum Vice Chairman Sheikh Zahir Qayyum.
Speaking during a meeting held to discuss problems faced by the businesses operating in the area, Qayyum said that the traffic problems that arise in the absence of a parking plaza has discouraged shoppers from heading to this market, causing heavy losses to the business being operated from here. He also mentioned that despite several promises made by provincial governments in the past, no development was carried out to save Anarkali from the havoc of traffic.
He also stressed that the protection and restoration of the famous and historically important Anarkali Bazaar is important as the place serves men and women of all ages looking to buy various items. He also assured the government that the traders operating in the market are willing to cooperate with the provincial government to sort their issues.
