Gujrat: The Punjab government has planned to allot PKR 16 million for a park for ladies and children on land belonging to the forest department in Kharian.
District Coordination Officer (DCO) Liaqat Ali Chattha, MPA Shabbir Kotla and other officials visited the proposed site for the park, located on GT Road, where it was revealed that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had allocated funds for the purpose.
According to a news source, ten kanals of land has been earmarked for the park and a seven-member monitoring committee, consisting of renowned personalities of Kharian city, will supervise the project, acting on the DCO’s orders.
The department’s offices located on the site will be relocated to a rest house belonging to the forest department. Assistant Commissioner Irfan Ali has been given the task of arranging accommodation for officials.
The project has reportedly been a longstanding demand of residents.
