Karachi: The anti-encroachment team of the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) evacuated illegal encroachments from a park in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, as per a news report. The KDA’s spokesperson said that the KDA Chief received a complaint from the citizens regarding illegal occupancy on a park in Scheme 36’s Block 14, where they ordered the concerned Parks and Recreation Director to rid the plots off of the encroachment.
The anti-encroachment team conducted the operation and removed illegal occupancy, opening the park to the public.
Taking notice of mass encroachment in the city, the Supreme Court had earlier directed the KDA, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, chairmen of DMC South, East, Central, Korangi and Malir and administrator West to carry out removal operations. The apex court was also informed that around 35,000 amenity plots all across the city have been encroached upon, for which the KDA is now taking strict measures.
