Lakki Marwat: Divisional Forest Officer Wildlife Khan Malook Khan announced the formation of a wetlands park for the promotion of ecotourism during a public event held in honour of World Wetlands Day in Bannu on February 2.
According to a news source, Khan said that two-thirds of fisheries are harvested from wetlands which improved sustainable livelihood and reduced the emanation of carbon dioxide from the environment. These wetlands serve as the habitats of migratory birds, water fowl, and other species and play a vital role in filtering water and controlling floods, he added.
During the event, documentaries focused on the importance of wetlands were filmed. There were also essay writing declamation, and painting competitions.
