Islamabad: Pakistan and Uzbekistan signed an agreement on Thursday to improve trade relations and increase bilateral connectivity, according to a news report. This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to establish a ‘Joint Working Group on Trade and Economic Affairs’.

To this effect, Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Investments and Trade Sardor Umurzakov held a meeting with Advisor to the Prime Minister (PM) on Commerce and Investment Abdul Razzak Dawood in Islamabad.
During this meeting, both parties agreed to initiate a mutual ‘Early Harvest Plan’, and decided to pursue a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) to boost market accessibility between the two countries. They also agreed to have Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRAs) to be on the same page about quality and sanitation standards. Moreover, both parties will also establish a business forum for the private sectors of both countries.

These measures are aimed at improving trade relations and connectivity between Pakistan and Uzbekistan and will boost both economies.
