Islamabad: Officials representing the state-owned media of Pakistan and Turkey recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote heritage initiatives between the two countries, a news source reported.

To this effect, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (PM) on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan stated that Pakistan and Turkey were considering joint projects for the preservation and promotion of Islamic heritage and architecture.

She said that the two countries would also arrange exhibitions and workshops to promote cultural legacy and calligraphy. She added that both the countries had pledged to cooperate in cinema, which would help rejuvenate Pakistan’s cinema industry.

In a separate development, Pakistan and Turkey agreed to expand defence cooperation and conduct joint ventures in development, research, and production. The two governments pledged to work towards promoting strategic stability, strengthening regional and international security, and engage in global disarmament.

They also vowed to promote cooperation between the law enforcement agencies and institutions of the two countries and share expertise, information, and best practices.
