The information was presented to Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif during a briefing by the PR on current development projects in Sindh. According to reports, the project would cost PKR 58 billion, split evenly between the federal and state governments. According to the proposal, the railway track would be completed by March 23, and will be used to carry indigenous coal to brick kilns around the country. The track will run from Islam Koat in Thaparker to the Chor in Sindh, near Umer Kot.

Furthermore, PM Shehbaz formed a committee led by Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah to examine the availability of coal from Thar Coal Mines and its demand in the local market, with a deadline of 72 hours. It is worth noting that the Thar Coal Mines are Pakistan’s largest coal mines, with billions of tonnes of coal production capacity. To lessen dependency on imported coal, the government has recently begun exploring mines as part of the China-Pakistan Energy Corridor (CPEC) project.
