Islamabad: While addressing the media in Berlin, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that in order to strengthen economic cooperation with Germany and tap its potential, Pakistan would soon open a consulate in Munich, according to news sources.

Mr Qureshi highlighted that this move would help both countries collaborate on matters of trade and investment in the future. Moreover, FM Qureshi said that Berlin and Islamabad could work closely in areas such as information technology, solar energy, and electric vehicles.
FM Qureshi took special notice of the 5,000 Pakistani students studying in Germany, and apprised that more efforts would be made to expand cooperation in education through the Higher Education Commission. He also mentioned the Pakistani community residing in Germany as an essential feature of strengthening people-to-people relations, and said that the newly-launched Roshan Digital Pakistan project was aimed at facilitating money transfers from expatriates community.

As Pakistan is a top exporter for sports equipment, Foreign Minister Qureshi inaugurated a Football Enclave at the Pakistan embassy. This move was made in light of the new agreement regarding the annual export of over 50 million footballs from Pakistan to Germany.
