Karachi: Pakistan has received more than USD 2 billion in remittances for seven months in a row, a news source reported on January 9. Moreover, remittances during December 2020 were seen to increase by 16.2% year-on-year to reach USD 2.436 billion, as against USD 2.097 billion recorded in December 2019.

Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan tweeted that the total remittance figure for six months of this fiscal year stood at USD 14.2 billion; registering a 24.9% growth as compared to the last year when the remittances stood at USD 11.372 billion.
Twenty six percent of the total remittance figures were reported from Saudi Arabia, with the overseas Pakistanis residing in the kingdom remitting USD 624.8 million. Inflows from the Arab state have remained close to USD 600 million during the past six months as well.

Nearly 21% (USD 511.61 million) of the inflows came from the United Arab Emirates, while the remittances from United Kingdom stood at USD 325 million.
