Karachi: Pakistan Railways, in order to facilitate better efficacy in the movement of container trains and traffic, has successfully connected the tracks of Groyne Yard with the old Keamari Line. To this effect, a light engine trial run was performed along the newly linked tracked and the same was completed without issues.

Reconstruction and betterment of the Groyne Yard located on the South Asia Pacific Terminal (SAPT) was a top priority for Pakistan Railways in order to improve the movement and control of container trains.
Mohammad Hanif Gul, the Divisional Superintendent of Karachi Railways visited the yard twice over the past month. He was also involved in extensive discussions with the General Manager of SAPT Reymond Chen regarding the revival of the yard.

According to Mr Gul, with all minor and major rehabilitation works completed and the first trial run a success, transshipments from the yard will commence shortly. A functioning yard will surely improve the efficiency of the service and consequently, freight earnings will also see a substantial increase.
