Karachi: Pakistan Railways (PR) on Thursday announced its decision to float tenders for the rehabilitation of Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) project, a news source reported. To this effect, officials revealed that PR would float tenders worth PKR 102 million for this purpose.

According to details, the tenders cite around seven major works for the rehabilitation of KCR. These include
- Rehabilitation of station buildings from Karachi City to Orangi
- Removal of debris and solid waste from tracks between Wazir Mansion and Orangi
- Rehabilitation of bridges, foot-over bridges, and platform shelters
- Supplying, stacking, and loading of 2-stone ballast at Wazir Mansion
- Rehabilitation of level crossings in Group A, B, and C

The officials concerned revealed that PR is ready to float these tenders as per the orders of the Supreme Court for KCR’s revival. KCR Project Director Ameer Mohammad Daudpota stated that people would soon have access to this mass transit system as it was among PR’s top priorities. He added that all tasks would take place with the cooperation of the Sindh government and reach completion within the specified time frame.
