Islamabad: The Pakistan Railways (PR) has finished up to 95% of the rehabilitation and restoration work of the Sibbi-Khost track, a news source reported. The department expects to complete the remaining work on the 132.50-kilometre-long track on a timely basis.

According to details revealed by the Ministry of Railways, Pakistan Railways faced problems in completing the work on the Sibbi-Khost track due to the ongoing coronavirus lockdown. An official stated that the project was underway as part of the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) via the M/S National Logistics Cell (NLC). He added that the rehabilitation of railway stations, bridges, and short embankments was complete and the laying of track was in progress.
The official revealed the rehabilitation of the Sibbi-Khost Section was scheduled for completion at the end of the project. However, he added that Pakistan Railways could not finish the work due to coronavirus slowdown.

The Ministry of Railways official said that Pakistan Railways continually pursued the revival of its infrastructure and had taken measures to restore the Sibbi-Khost section. He added that after its completion, the project would facilitate the surrounding areas through passenger and freight train operations, along with improving their economic condition.
