Rawalpindi: The Pakistan Railways has finalised its plans to retrieve 1,100 kanals of its land from illegal occupants, reported a news source. The Railways department finalised the grand operation in coordination with the Rawalpindi Administration.

Reportedly, the encroached land was located in residential areas of Rawalpindi. It is believed, that as per the pre-partition data maintained by the Railways department, over 1,100 kanals on land in Kotha Kalan, Korang and Sihala originally belonged to it.
In order to determine the extent of encroachment on Railways land, the department has given a three-month deadline to the occupants to share proof of ownership of the land they are currently occupying.

Reportedly, several plazas, houses and housing societies have been developed on Railways land. To demarcate the exact tract of land that originally belonged to the Pakistan Railways, the department has sought help from the district administration. Once the formalities are completed, the Railways department will launch its grant operation to retrieve land worth billions of rupees.
