Lahore: A recent United Nations (UN) report has revealed that Pakistan has successfully met a crucial climate change goal ten years in advance of its stipulated completion timeframe, a news source reported. According to the UN Sustainable Development Report 2020, achieved goal, termed the ‘UN Development Goal 13’, pertains to the implementation of urgent actions against climate change and its impact.

According to details, the said UN report is the annual global assessment of progress towards meeting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by countries across the globe.
Advisor to the Prime Minister (PM) for Climate Change Malik Amin said that that achieving the UN SDG 13 way ahead of the deadline was a landmark for pursuing other goals like elimination of poverty and hunger, gender equality, clean water, education, sanitation, justice, and peace.

Amin stated that the government’s many initiatives against climate change were responsible for this milestone achievement. He added that this ‘paradigm shift’ shows the government’s commitment towards climate-friendly growth and sustainable development. This was not only good for Pakistan but rest of the world as well, he opined.
