Ms Lei quoted Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam’s claim of achieving 60% clean energy share by 2030 at the World Leaders’ Climate Summit held on April 22. Shen Lei highlighted that Pakistan can easily achieve this target under CPEC through the support of technology, investment and equipment, while also strengthening economic cooperation with China.
Moreover, she added that Pakistan is rich in clean energy resources, but the degree of development is low, creating imbalances in supply and demand. She also pointed towards losses along transmission lines and said that energy structure adjustment is an effective way to solve the problem of energy shortage in Pakistan.

The World Bank believes that Pakistan should add 24,000 megawatts of wind and solar power in the next 10 years, including 6,700 megawatts of wind power and 17,500 megawatts of solar power, which can save USD 1 billion in annual power generation costs. Shen said while Pakistan adopts clean energy solutions, it will also improve the ecological environment, create economic growth opportunities and improve the quality of life of its citizens.
