Islamabad: Kyrgyz Republic Ambassador to Pakistan Ulanbek Totuiaev on Friday (September 09) announced the establishment of a trade house in Pakistan to promote bilateral trade and cooperation between the two Asian countries, news sources reported.

In a seminar hosted by the Riphah Institute of Public Policy (RIPP) at Riphah International University, the ambassador said that both countries have a long history of bilateral relations. The ambassador stated that there is a lot of commercial potential between the two countries, and trade relations should be explored further. He said the two countries may benefit from each other’s experiences and diverse product offerings, which will also help strengthen cultural ties. He said that the two countries are focusing on establishing direct flights in the near future to promote easy access to markets. In his address at the seminar Rector University of Central Asia, Bishkek, Prof Dr H Sohail Naqvi highlighted the developing bilateral links between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan in education, training, and student exchange.

It should be noted that Kyrgyzstan is a popular destination for Pakistani students seeking advanced degrees in medicine and research. Following the disintegration of the Soviet Union in 1991, the oil-rich Central Asian Republic (CAR) gained independence, and Pakistan was one of the first countries to recognise it and opened diplomatic relations.
