Islamabad: Pakistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the 10 billion plantation drive in the kingdom, news sources reported. Under the agreement, Pakistan will offer technical assistance to the latter for the development of infrastructure and manpower for the plantation drive.

The MoU was signed between the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Climate Change Malik and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Saudi Ministry of Environment Dr Khalid. The project is part of the kingdom’s green initiative, which calls for the planting of 40 billion trees in the deserts of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Gulf countries. In an interview with the media, CEO Khalid stated that the Saudi government wishes to profit from Pakistan’s expertise in ensuring the success of the tree-planting effort.
