Islamabad: The Ministry of Climate Change and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for improving the quality water monitoring systems in Pakistan, a news source reported.

Adviser to the Prime Minister (PM) on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam and Korean Ambassador in Pakistan Kwak Sung-Kyu were present at the signing ceremony. The ambassador said he was hopeful that the joint venture would help improve the quality of life of the locals.
The aim of this PKR 7.42 million project is to achieve UN’s Sustainable Development Goal-6. As per the MoU, the initiative – titled ‘Enhancing Water Quality Monitoring System’ – will be implemented from 2019 to 2024.

Ministry of Climate Change Deputy Director (Media) Mohammad Saleem said that KOICA would provide water quality testing equipment to 44 Public Health Engineering Department laboratories situated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab. Moreover, the organisation would provide technical assistance on policy formation regarding water quality.
