Islamabad: Prime Minister’s Adviser on Commerce Razak Dawood on Monday (October 25) announced that Pakistan Information Technology (IT)-related sector growth has reached USD 635 million in the first quarter of this fiscal year (FY 2021-22), news sources reported.

As per the details shared, the IT and IT-related sector posted a growth of 45% compared to the same period last year. Moreover, the IT& IT products have grown to an accumulative USD 635 million in the first quarter of FY-22 from July to September as compared to USD 445 million recorded in FY-21.

Advisor Dawood said that Pakistan earned USD 2 billion last year and it will be surpassed this year. He said the jump in the revenue is due to the better policies and tax breaks for the IT sector. It is important to remember that Pakistan has provided the IT sector with a special status to encourage growth. In this regard, several projects have been initiated including IT-Parks and Tech-Pura projects in Lahore.
