Islamabad: Pakistan and Iran have agreed to work closely for the effective implementation of the Iran-Pakistan (IP) gas pipeline project, a news source reported. Foreign Office (FO) Spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal talked about this decision – taken by both countries – during his weekly media briefing. He said that the IP pipeline project had been one of the focal points of the discussions held during Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s recent two-day visit to Iran.

Faisal added that both countries had discussed a number of projects, among which the IP gas pipeline project was given the most attention. He said that both sides have expressed their commitment towards working closely for ensuring the project’s effective implementation.

The IP gas pipeline project, also called ‘Peace Pipeline’, is currently under construction. The project includes the development of a 2,775-km pipeline, which will deliver natural gas from Iran to Pakistan.
