Islamabad: Pakistan has invited UAE investment in energy projects in the country, according to a news report. This offer was extended by Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Makhdum Khusro Bakhtyar, who said that the UAE can reap the benefits of investing in the energy sector, particularly petrochemical and hydropower generation, in Pakistan.
This will be a step to further improve bilateral relations, and was discussed in a meeting between Bakhtyar and the Ambassador of UAE, Hamad Obaid Alzaabi, in the presence of Secretary Planning Zafar Hasan. Bakhtyar emphasised that such a measure would broaden the scope of partnership between the two countries and be beneficial for both of them. He also appreciated the UAE’s investment in Pak-Arab refinery, and expressed the desire for more avenues to be explored. He further added that Pakistan would participate in Expo 2020, and this will provide opportunities for more bilateral cooperation in various sectors.
