Islamabad: Minister of Commerce and Trade of Niger Mr Gabo Sabo Moctar along with his delegate met with the members of the Federation of the Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) to discuss bilateral business opportunities, including the development of Special Economic Zones (SEZ)s for Pakistan, news sources reported.

Reportedly, Mr Gabo said Niger is looking to attract investment ininfrastrucrual sector of Africa. The minister also stated that the major goal is to create long-term bilateral ties via the sharing of policy and operational skills and experience.
Both parties signed memorandums and agreements to develop business-to-business partnerships for long-term gains. The meeting was attended by the prominent business figures from Niger along with Pakistan’s Ambassador to Niger Ahmad Ali Sirohey from Pakistan side Former President FPCCI Senator Haji Ghulam Ali, coordinator FPCCI capital office Mirza Abdul Rehman and other members of the federation.

Furthermore, Mr Gabo stated that Pakistan’s basmati rice is of the highest quality and that there is potential for sectors such as pharmaceutical, agricultural, medical devices, textile and others, as Niger is a booming new market for Pakistani products. Furthermore, Chairman FPCCI Qurban Ali stated that Africa is an untapped and unexplored market that will benefit economic growth and industrialization.
It was also said that, despite the epidemic, commerce between Pakistan and Africa rose by 7% during 2019-2020 through the Look Africa Campaign, and that the volume of present trade may be doubled through bilateral agreements and exploration of opportunities.

The head of the FPCCI stated his optimism that the growth of business-to-business (B2B) and government-to-government (G2G) connections will aid in increasing trade volume.
