Pakistan has launched a mobile application, ‘Pak ID’, to streamline the visa-on-arrival process for citizens from 120 eligible countries. Developed by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), the app enables travelers to apply for business and tourist visas and track their application status in real time.
Previously, obtaining a visa-on-arrival involved lengthy procedures, often taking days to process. With the ‘Pak ID’ app, eligible applicants can now receive their visas within 24 hours, making travel to Pakistan more accessible and convenient.
The app is equipped with face recognition, document scanning, and photo upload features, allowing users to complete the process digitally without visiting any physical offices. This marks a significant step in Pakistan’s efforts to digitize its visa system, which is already open to travelers from 192 countries.

Beyond visas, the app also facilitates identity card applications for overseas Pakistanis, further modernizing NADRA’s administrative services. It is available for free download on Android and iOS, ensuring easy access for international travelers and expatriates alike.
While the app currently supports Visa Prior to Arrival (VPA) applications, other visa types must still be processed through the Pakistan Online Visa System (POVS) website.
This initiative is expected to boost tourism and business travel, cutting bureaucratic delays and simplifying entry into the country. The government aims to attract more international visitors by offering a faster and more user-friendly visa process.
