Faisalabad: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Rizwan Saeed Sheikh announced on Monday (August 16) that Pakistan will host the first-ever OIC trade festival in 2022, news sources reported.

The trade festival will be attended by the majority of the organization’s members and will help promote the halal industry as well as explore new avenues of trade cooperation and investment between the member states.
This was stated by the ambassador during a meeting with the delegation representing the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI). The ambassador contended that halal products, including food, is a huge industry that has yet to be explored. He also stated that a meeting of the foreign ministers of Islamic countries is planned for March 2022 to muster the collective strategy to uplift Muslim Ummah and forge unity among the member states.

The ambassador also requested that FCCI President Engineer Hafiz Ihtasham Javed to submit concrete ideas and proposals for these conferences so that Pakistan may take the lead in the general progress of Islamic nations. He also requested the president to identify the industries in which Information Technology (IT) related collaboration is necessary, and that he would make efforts to persuade Saudi Arabia to build new industrial facilities in Pakistan.
