Islamabad: The government on Thursday hosted an international conference, titled ‘Measures Being Taken by Countries around the Globe against COVID-19’, of experts from eight countries in Islamabad, according to a press release.

The Centre for Global and Strategic Studies (CGSS) organised this international online conference to discuss how countries around the globe are dealing with COVID-19. Experts from China, Turkey, Russia, Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, and Thailand attended this conference. They were joined by experts from Pakistan.
A total of 25 delegates conducted a detailed interactive session. The international experts lauded Pakistan’s efforts in tackling the pandemic, and appreciated the country’s healthcare workers, security officials, and media for their role in containing the spread of COVID-19.

These experts also talked about the importance of social distancing, as well as supporting small and medium enterprises in these economically difficult times. They shared the efforts carried out in their respective countries, in addition to discussing the effectiveness of these measures. Digital education platforms, curfews, rent exemptions, and the establishment of quarantine centres were all hailed as effective measures.
