Pakistan is the first foreign country to use the Chinese GPS by Beidou Satellite System. The two countries had signed the agreement during Chinese Prime Minister Liq Keqiang’s May 2013 visit to Pakistan.
Beidou is China’s largest space-based system and one of the four global navigation systems along with the United States’ GPS, Russia’s GLONASS, and the EU’s Galileo. The company also has a network in Pakistan.
Firms from more than 200 countries have applied for the Beidou navigation system, titled the Beidou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) — with the company exporting its products to more than 100 countries. Within China itself, the service has been installed in more than 70% smartphones across the country.
