Islamabad: Pakistan and China recently signed multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) focusing on flood rehabilitation, information and communication technologies, and development, reported by the national news source. This significant event took place during a meeting between a delegation from the Chinese International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), led by Luo Zhaohui, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad.
The agreements cover various areas including flood rehabilitation efforts, the implementation of information and communication technologies, and the utilization of Juncao technology to combat soil erosion and desertification. Additionally, discussions were held regarding the China-Pakistan Development Cooperation Planning for the years 2024-2028.
As per details, Prime Minister Sharif expressed gratitude towards China, highlighting their unwavering support, particularly during the devastating floods of 2022, which claimed many lives and caused extensive damage amounting to $30 billion. The agreements signify the deepening cooperation between the two countries across multiple sectors.
The signing ceremony was attended by officials from both Pakistan and China, including China’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong. This collaboration underscores China’s consistent support for Pakistan, evident in their financial assistance and investment in various infrastructure projects through initiatives like the Belt and Road scheme.
