Islamabad: A delegation of China Railway Engineering Corporation (CREC) discussed the progress on Phase 1 of railway project, Main Line-1 (from Karachi to Peshawar) with Ministry of Railways Chairman Muhammad Javed Anwar, stated a news report. This is to be built as part of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), at a total cost of USD 3.4 billion, whereas the execution and implementation of this project stands at USD 8.2 billion.
The feasibility study of the preliminary design of Phase 1 has been completed and is in the final stages of review process. The delegation also discussed areas of cooperation in the railways sector with Anwar. The meeting was also attended by the Pakistan Mission of CREC and the director general planning.
