Islamabad: Officials from Pakistan and China discussed exploration of ways to expand the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, a news source reported. The discussion took place during the inaugural meeting of the Joint Working Group on International Cooperation & Coordination (JWG-ICC) in Beijing.

Both sides expressed their satisfaction over the steady progress of the ongoing CPEC projects, and their commitment to ensure this momentum continues.
The Pakistani side, headed by Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua, and the Chinese side, headed by Vice Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou, exchanged views over exploring ways to expand CPEC. Both sides considered developing joint proposals for international cooperation and coordination under this venture.

In a statement following the meeting, both sides rejected criticism against CPEC and the Belt & Road Initiative. Representatives of both countries have agreed to counter such criticism, and similar moves, through joint efforts at various levels and modes.
