Lahore: The Ministry of Science & Technology on Thursday stated that Pakistan had become the first country in South Asia to start using eco-friendly electric vehicles, a news source reported. In its statement, the ministry highlighted that Pakistan was among the countries most affected by climate change and its transport sector was responsible for over 40% of air pollution.

Pakistan recently introduced eco-friendly vehicles. In this regard, Daewoo Express Pakistan and Skywell Automobiles of China signed an MoU for establishing the Electric Vehicles Value China in the country. According to this agreement, both firms will collaborate to launch buses and other vehicles running on electricity, along with creating technical support base in Pakistan.
According to sources, during the project’s first phase, Skywell Automobiles will provide electric buses for the Pakistani market. In the second phase, the company will establish a manufacturing plant for electric vehicles in the country.

The Ministry of Science & Technology has stated that this measure would help grow an eco-friendly system in Pakistan and curb the effects of global warming.
