Islamabad: The Ministry of Commerce & Trade Pakistan is organising the 3rd Pakistan-Africa Trade Development Conference (PATDC) to enhance bilateral trade, news sources reported on November 22.

The conference will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa, from November 29 to December 1, 2022, with trade delegates from both nations participating in trade development schemes and signing memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to enhance preferential trade with each other.

Following the agreement, a delegation of approximately 225 exhibitors and business delegates from Pakistan representing twenty major sectors, including pharmaceuticals, tractors and agricultural machinery, engineering goods, sports goods, and chemicals, will visit Johannesburg, while 130 companies will exhibit their products in the single-country exhibition. The show has also invited officials and businesspeople from the South African Development Community (16 member states) to attend.

It is worth noting that Africa is the largest continent with the most people and an untapped market for commerce and mining. In 2017, Pakistan announced the Look Africa Initiative to prioritise trade and business prospects in Africa. With its IT market, China has recently grabbed a sizable market share in Africa.
