Abbottabad: The National Library of Medicine (NLM) of the United States (US) has added Pakistan to the list of countries committed to developing the COVID-19 vaccine, a news source reported. As per the publication, the NLM approved a 20-member team of the Ayub Medical College, Abbottabad for formulating a vaccine against the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.

Ayub Medical College CEO Dr Umer Farooq revealed this information while talking to media personnel. He said that the NLM had appreciated the Pakistani experts and allowed them to start testing for a cure based on their credentials. He said that they would make groups of 25 people initially to begin the trials.
Dr Farooq said that they would select the volunteers for the COVID-19 vaccine trials based on age and severity of the disease. He added that patients of heart disease and other major complications would not be part of the trials.

The CEO further said that after the approval of the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) of the USA, the Pakistani researchers could hopefully find a coronavirus cure and make it available for the world.
