Islamabad: The Pakistan Railways has undertaken the task of clearing the encroachments along the right of way of the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) route, a news source reported. The authority initiated this task following orders issued by the Supreme Court (SC). Pakistan Railways is going to complete the clearance task with the assistance of the Sindh government.

In a letter to the Secretary Transport Sindh, Director General Planning of Railways stated that the vacated land will be handed over to the provincial government for safe custody and execution of the KCR project according to the SC orders and approval of Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC).
The Ministry of Railways and Pakistan Railways has expressed its commitment to provide any support required for KCR’s implementation and resolving any outstanding mutual issues.

Previously, the SC had issued orders to operationalise the KCR and local train within a time period of 15 days. It had recorded the Pakistan Railways’ commitment pertaining to this matter in its order.
